Ferrari completes two-day test with Pirelli at Fiorano that saw Lewis Hamilton in action.

On Thursday, the seven-time world champion, known for his aversion to testing, particularly in-season, completed 142 laps of the Ferrari track, as he tried various full wet tyre configurations throughout the morning and into the early afternoon.

The programme then concluded with a number of runs on different Intermediate tyre variants to round off the day.

The track was artificially watered using the circuit's irrigation system, creating consistent wet conditions, with ambient temperatures reaching 21 degrees C. The fastest lap of the day was a 1:01.031.

Hamilton continued testing on Friday, first running the extreme wet prototypes, including a new tread design already trialled last week at Suzuka, with the aim of extending the operating range of the full wets to cover less intense rain conditions as well.

From mid-afternoon until the end of the day, a variant of the Intermediate was fitted, making it possible to assess the crossover windows between the wet products tested on track.

The Briton completed 155 laps, setting a best time of 1:00.740. Across the two-day test, a total of 297 laps were completed, for an overall distance of 550 miles (884 kms). Ambient temperatures, very similar to those recorded on Thursday, reached 22 degrees.

Pirelli's development work will continue next week, when Mercedes and McLaren will take part in a two-day closed-door test at the Nurburgring on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The German circuit, which last hosted a Grand Prix in 2020, is fairly balanced in its Formula 1 configuration and places equal emphasis on lateral and longitudinal loads. It will therefore represent an interesting test bed for future slick compounds.
